How to ask and understand what there is - a few basics

C'e' un bancomat qui vicino?
Ci sono varie banche in centro

  • To ask 'is there...?' you say C'è...? The same expression is used to say 'there is...', without the questioning intonation.


  • For 'are there...?' and 'there are...' the expression is ci sono.


  • You can also use c'è in the question Cosa c'è da vedere? What is there to see? Another useful one is Cosa c'è da fare? What is there to do?
