Getting there
Name:    Richard Chambers
Age:    19
UK town of origin:    Hexham, Newcastle
Residence in Italy:    Naples
Date of Arrival:    April 2000
Occupation:    Barman
Making the Move
Richard decided to take a year out before starting at university. He travelled through Europe for three weeks before dropping in on his father who was stationed with NATO in Naples.

He decided to stick around and got a job in the base bar. Despite not knowing much Italian, he got involved with a local hockey team, which was a great opportunity to mix with the locals. Richard left Naples at the end of August to prepare for a Masters course in Chemistry back in England.

Preparation
Before leaving, Richard made sure his passport was still valid and got himself the E111 for his medical insurance. He also joined the Youth Hostels Association that guaranteed quality accommodation.

Ambitions
Richard would quite like to go into teaching for a short while. He has also considered a career in Police Forensics.
