Getting there
Name:    Joanna Smart
Age:    29
UK town of origin:    London
Residence in Italy:    Naples
Date of Arrival:    October 2000
Occupation:    Actress
Making the Move
Joanna had already been touring around Italy with an educational theatre project for children. She spent a weekend away in Naples, staying with a family she had met on the train journey there. The moment she arrived, she felt at home and decided she wanted to stay there a bit longer.

She got a job working on an English drama project for the British Council and quickly found somewhere to stay. Life in this city seemed so much easier and more laid-back than in London. She is currently working on a project that takes Shakespeare and English literature to Neapolitan secondary schools. She also found love in Naples - she has an Italian boyfriend who speaks to her mostly in Italian.

Preparation
Joanna spent the summer before heading off teaching English in London. She lived with her parents and managed to save £1500 - £2000.

Ambitions
Joanna can see herself running an English theatre company and living in an apartment on the sea front.

Any Advice...?
"Experiment, enjoy and have fun!"
