Online programmes
Many German TV stations broadcast some programmes via their websites.

Das Erste

Das Erste is Germany's first public channel. As well as news, some of its most popular shows are Tatort, a crime series, Sandmännchen, a children's programme, soap operas including Marienhof and Lindenstraße and some sports events.

ZDF (Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen)

Germany's second channel, also a public broadcaster, shows educational programmes.

NDR (Norddeutscher Rundfunk)

The North German Broadcasting channel, one of seven regional networks collectively known as Die Dritten (The Third Networks). Produced by ARD, the same public service broadcasting station behind Das Erste. Features documentaries, older movies and regional news programmes.

MDR (Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk)

The Central German Broadcasting channel, also part of Die Dritten. Shows regional programmes and news and many of the programme pages have video clips.

ProSieben

Privately-owned channel showing entertainment, comedy, sport and music programmes and film trailers. There are episode synopses, quizzes, photo galleries and video interviews with producers from US series like Desperate Housewives, LOST and the Simpsons. The video pages show highlights from some of the most popular programmes.

RTL I + II

Privately-owned channel with news, entertainment and sport. Synopses of popular programmes such as Bones and Super Nanny with some clips in the video section.

Vox

A privately-owned channel which broadcasts documentaries, US series and movies. The video section has trailers for upcoming movies and series like CSI, Shark and Six Feet Under.

Sat 1

The first privately-owned channel broadcasting news, entertainment and sport. The video section shows highlights of popular programmes.

Arte

An arts and culture channel produced in France and Germany. You can watch short clips from many of its programmes online.

Deutsche Welle

Germany's international broadcaster producing TV, radio and online services in German and many other languages. The video on demand section has an archive of programmes already broadcast.
