Hi, I'm Andrea Hoffmann. I'm a teacher, translator and editor of English and German learning materials, and currently live and work in Berlin. I'm married with a young daughter.
I was born and raised in Berlin, and studied German and English language and literature at Humboldt University. After the Wall came down I decided to see a bit more of the world and moved to London, where I started teaching German and then worked in publishing.
Although I loved London, the English and their sense of humour I always remained a Berliner at heart and soon moved back to the city-in-change. Berlin had become a new city, and I was eager for a new challenge. Today it's a truly great place to live - in the summertime it takes on a real Mediterranean feel, with cafés and bars that stay open till dawn and nearby lakes and woods where you can chill out or stroll at a leisurely pace.
I speak English, a bit of French and a bit of Russian, and would like to learn Italian too. At the moment my daughter is learning to speak German and English. It's incredibly exciting watching her as she begins to put her first sentences together. She's a real 'international' child! I hope she'll share my passion for languages - it's the best way to make friends all over the world and to dive into different cultures.
