Getting there
Opening a bank account

If you intend to stay in Germany for a significant period, you'll need a German bank account to make regular payment for rent and bills. It's a very straightforward and swift procedure. All you need to bring with you is your valid passport and the initial deposit. Opening hours for most banks are 9am until 4pm with smaller branches closing for lunch.

The 3 largest banks are Deutsche Bank, Dresdner Bank, and Commerzbank, all with branches in some UK cities. However, you can open your account once in Germany.
