ich bin geboren
Ich bin hier geboren.
 I was born here.

Das ist mir gelungen.
 I have managed that.

When you want to talk about something you've done or something that has happened, ie events in the past, in some cases you need to use sein - 'to be', plus the past participle, ie geboren to form the Perfekt tense.

This is true for a specific number of common verbs which express either a change of place or a change of state, for example kommen, gehen, fahren, fliegen... Other verbs use haben - 'to have' - to form the Perfekt tense.
