Chambers of Industry
and Commerce

The Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (DIHT) is the national organisation of the 83 German chambers of industry and commerce. All German companies in the country are by law members of the chambers of industry and commerce, with the exception of craft and trade enterprises, the independent professions and agricultural operations.

The chambers represent the interests of regional businesses in dealing with the municipalities, the states and the regional government authorities.

The Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce represents the interests of commercial industry at the federal level and also before the European Commission in Brussels. It maintains a global network of more than 59 German chambers of commerce in foreign countries and representatives of German business and industry who promote German foreign trade and German investments abroad.
