How to say 'I've lost' and 'I've seen'

J'ai perdu mon sac
Vous avez vu mon sac ?
Je ne l'ai pas trouvé

  • perdu, trouvé and vu mean 'lost', 'found' and 'seen'.

  • To say 'I've lost' or 'I've found', you add J'ai, 'I have', just like in English, e.g. J'ai perdu, J'ai trouvé.

  • To ask 'Have you found...? you say Vous avez trouvé...? or turn the question around e.g. Avez-vous trouvé mon sac ? 'Have you found my bag?'
Tick to see how this works

J'ai
Vous avez
Avez-vous

Practise asking and saying what's happened in the past. Drag the words into the right order to complete these sentences.
