Numbers 1-16 are all different words:
0 zero
1 un
2 deux
3 trois
4 quatre
5 cinq
6 six
7 sept
8 huit
9 neuf
10 dix
11 onze
12 douze
13 treize
14 quatorze
15 quinze
16 seize
Numbers 17, 18, 19 start with 10.
17 dix-sept
, 'ten-seven'

The tens from 20 to 60 have their own word too.

50 cinquante
60 soixante
For 70, 80 and 90, there's a particular formula.

From 21 to 69 you combine tens and units as in English.
But when there's a one involved, you say
...-et-un
, literally '...and one'.

From 71 to 79, you keep on counting in sixties

For hundreds, you use
cent
. You add an -s in the plural,
unless it's followed by another number:

350 trois cent cinquante, etc
450 quatre cent cinquante, etc
400 quatre cents
500 cinq cents
600 six cents
700 sept cents
800 huit cents
900 neuf cents
For thousands, you use
mille
- this never takes -s,
even when talking about several thousands:
1000 mille
2000 deux mille
