How to say where you're from


Je viens de Chantilly
Je viens du sixième arrondissement de Paris
Vous êtes parisienne alors ?
Vous venez d'où ?


  • You can say where you come from by saying Je viens de... followed by the name of the place.


  • You can also say where you're from using the adjective for your country or town, e.g. Je suis anglais, English, or Je suis parisien, Parisian.


  • These words have slightly different versions according to the person they refer to - masculine, feminine, singular or plural - as in the examples below.


  • If a word ends in -e, it stays the same for masculine and feminine, e.g. Je suis britannique, I'm British.

Je viens d'une petite ville   I come from a small town
