Finding Parisians in Paris isn't as obvious as it sounds, as I soon discover outside le Centre Pompidou.


- Bonjour. Vous venez d'où ?
- Hello. Where are you from?
- Je viens de Chantilly, à vingt minutes
   de Paris, dans l'Oise.

- I come from Chantilly, twenty minutes
   from Paris, in the Oise.

- Bonjour. Vous venez d'où ?
- Hello. Where are you from?
- Bonjour. Je viens d'Evreux en Haute-
   Normandie.

- Hello. I'm from Evreux in Upper
   Normandy.
- Et vous vous appelez comment ?
- And what's your name?
- Je m'appelle Amélie.,
- My name's Amélie.
- Bonjour, Monsieur. Vous venez d'où ?
- Good morning. Where are you from?
- Je viens d'une petite ville qui s'appelle
   Chatoux, près de Paris.

- I come from a little town called Chatoux,
   near Paris.
- Quel est votre nom  ?
- What's your name?
- André Quivognac.
- André Quivognac.
- Bonjour, Madame. Vous venez d'où ?
- Good morning. Where are you from?
- Je viens du sixième arrondissement de Paris.
- I'm from the sixth district in Paris.
- Vous êtes parisienne, alors ?
- So you're Parisian then?
- Oui, je suis née à Paris.
- Yes, I was born in Paris.
