Getting there
Opening a bank account

Foreigners can open a bank account if they're staying in France for more than 3 months. This can be done in advance by visiting a French bank in the UK like Crédit Lyonnias, Crédit Agricole or BNP. It is also possible to do this once in the country.

For this you'll need:

  • Valid passport
  • Carte de séjour
  • Proof of address in France, such as a telephone/electricity bill or rent documents
  • Birth certificate

In addition, you may need a proof of your income, such as a tax return or contract, and a reference from your home bank, particularly if your account has an overdraft facility.
