Getting there
Finding Accommodation

In contrast to the British, the French are far less in a hurry to buy property, and a large proportion of the French population prefer to rent. For example a two bedroom flat in Paris costs between £600 - £800 a month.

Before leaving:

  • Decide if you'd like to rent or buy
  • Possibly approach an international relocation/estate agent: French Properties, Sales and Lettings and F.U.S.A.C.
  • Photocopy your passport a few times, multiple copies may be required by landlord

Once you get there:

  • Check out the accomodation sections, immobilier, in newspapers like Le Figaro or Le Monde

Once you've found somewhere you like, the landlord will require the following:

  • A photocopy of your passport
  • Proof of Employment/Financial Resources
