  • HER: I’m okay.

     
  • HIM: Are you English?

     
  • HER: Erm ... Yes

     
  • HIM: You need help.

     
  • HER: Actually, I’m meeting someone.

     
  • HIM: I work here.

     
  • BEAT.

     
  • HER: [EMBARRASED] Oh.

     
  • HIM: You like a book?

     
  • HER: No … I’m just browsing.

     
  • HIM: Pardon ?

     
  • HER: Erm … je n'achète pas.

     
  • HE LAUGHS.

     
  • HER: What? Did I say it wrong?

     
  • HIM: Non. Parfait.

     
  • HER: I’ve got to improve my French.

    I’m fine. Thank you.

     
  • HIM: Okay.

     
  • HE WALKS AWAY. HE COMES BACK.

     
  • HIM: You like a coffee? We can talk in French.

     
  • HER: [HESITATES] No … I don’t think so.

     
  • HIM: Vos taches de rousseur sont sublimes.

     
  • HER: I don’t … I don’t drink coffee.

    It makes me nervous.

     
  • HIM: That is okay …you make me nervous.

     
  • SHE LAUGHS.
