Like it or not, the Euro has arrived for many shoppers and businesses across Europe. But did you know...?
- All Euro notes feature the name of the currency in both the Latin and the Greek alphabets - EURO and EYPΩ.
- The euro symbol € was inspired by the Greek letter epsilon. The parallel lines in the symbol are supposed to represent the Euro's stability.
- While the UK has not yet switched to the Euro, we still may be subject to 'Eurocreep'. This is not a pejorative term for a Euro know-it-all, rather it is the term used by economists to describe the infiltration of the Euro into non-Euro countries.
