is first mentioned in history in the Domesday book and the village gets
its name from the words "Long" and "ton" meaning town. Situated inbetween
Preston and Southport, there are three parts to the village, which has
clearly grown over the years.The first part is by the supermarket and village shops, the second is further along the road by Marsh Lane, which leads to the old cottages, fields and marshes.
