The Land of My Birth
by John Garner
Please
tell us about yourself:
I am the eldest of two, living in Clitheroe with my dad. I was brought
up in the family home in Lancashire. I attended the local schools and
went to University in High Wycombe graduating in leisure management in
1995. My hobbies include charity work, walking and using computers for
web design.
What is
your story about?
Being born to British parents in 1973 in the British high commission hospital
in New Delhi before leaving for England when I was four months old and
how I achieved my aim of visiting the place of my birth.
Why did
you choose to tell this particular story?
I have always used this story as a topic of conversation. I wanted to
tell it to a wider audience to give them something of my experience of
being born in India and how I felt about going back to this magical land.
What was
the experience of making your digital story like?
It
was a very rewarding experience and fun seeing "my story" unfolding
in pictures and words. The camaraderie of the group was something I will
remember for a long time and the joy of listening to different people
telling their stories.
