The Disbelievers by Andy Walker

Please tell us about yourself:
I am currently recovering from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I am soon to start a voluntary position for the patient advisory liaison service and Ormskirk NHS Trust

What is your story about?
Exploring the myths and negative perceptions relating to chronic fatigue syndrome. In essence, a plea to the disbelievers, to open their ears and minds.

I hope my story helps to promote understanding and awareness of this illness.

Why did you choose to tell this particular story?
I remember before I had been diagnosed with CFS the difficulties I had convincing my employer at the time that I wasn't inventing, imagining or contriving my symptoms.

The battle was breaking down the barriers and getting them to listen. Only when I was diagnosed did they begin to take me seriously, if somewhat begrudgingly.

What was the experience of making your digital story like?
Informative, enjoyable and a great learning experience. Everyone contributed to a great week which has, in the end, given me the opportunity to tell "my story", in the hope that those who see and hear it will indeed listen.
