by David O'Callaghan
tell us about yourself: I was born and bred in Liverpool. Left school at fifteen. Served my
time as a baker-confectioner. I have had various occupations. The last
21 years as a financial adviser in charge of my own business.
your story about?
My childhood in an orphanage and not knowing my mother, and missing her
as I saw my own daughters with their own children.
you choose to tell this particular story?
Little seems to be known about care facilities for the very young and
displaced children in the 1940s and 1950s. There were many children like
me with no parents and knew nothing of their roots. Information about
my time in the orphanage is virtually non-existent.
the experience of making your digital story like?
I learnt how to put a story together using 250 words in two minutes and
using old photographs and editing to make a story.
