You're
from Heysham, how does that area have an impact on your paintings?
Heysham is my home, its people, sights, sounds, smells. To walk
on the prom in the early evening is sublime, the impact is colour.
Heysham to me is full of colour.
What
was the first picture you painted that you thought, wow, that's
quite good?
I think all my works are good, then came "Arrogant Pink", boom,
quite good, yes.
By
day you work as a scaffolder, what do the lads on site say about
your artistic tendencies?
I still have one who thinks it's an April Fool's Joke! Yes I take
a lot of stick usually if I say I am an artist. Scaffolders and
builders tend to like a pint or two.

Rumour
has it that you've got a bit of reputation in New York and your
pictures are going down well there, how did that happen?
Yes I have a bit of a reputation, not big, just a bit. My first
solo exhibition sold out, second exhibition this June if all goes
well. It all started with an email from the Montserrat Gallery in
NY who got in touch through my web page www.unbelievable-art.co.uk.
They said we like your work, would you like to exhibit at our gallery
here in NY, as simple as that, one email!
Your pictures use bold colours, what colour of paint could you
not manage without? Why?
Green. To me it's optimistic, it's Spring's wondrous right.
What advice would you give to people who want to paint to make a
living?
Work hard, be original, believe in yourself, keep your dreams. Without
dreams we are lost never to be found. Then work hard and enjoy it.
Who would you most like to buy one of your paintings - is there
a celebrity that should own one for their home?
Art
is for everybody, it's in everybody. Leonard Cohen is everybody
and celebrated, I'm sure he himself enjoys the painted question.
