Blackburn vintage shop, Decades

Second hand clothes are no longer the birth right of students looking for that statement piece of smelly attire to annoy the hell out of their parents. The glossy fashion mags have made the vintage look their darling and designer retro rags are now highly sought after clobber.

FACTS

Beatnik fashion was big in the early 60's. Leather jackets, black pants and berets were the hot look at the start of this influential decade.

Heading into the 70's, the mini skirt was replaced with the midi and the maxi skirt. Not to be outdone, men a developed a penchant for wearing skin tight satin shirts.

But if like us, you haven't got the time, or the inclination, to search tirelessly through charity shops and jumble sales, you need a specialist shop that's already done all the hard work for you. Ono Eno went in search of some couture classics at Decades in Blackburn.

The thing about Decades is that you know you can give Carrie Bradshaw or J-Lo a run for their money without spending this month's wages in one fair swoop. For a fraction of that, you can get glammed up for Saturday night and look fantabulous without digging too deep into your fake Louis Vuitton or Gucci purse.

What was meant to be a 10 minute shop around soon turned into a two hour fantastic voyage into bags, belts, shoes, purses, all things beaded and all things not, ranging from the 20's to the 80's. I was spoilt for choice and had to be dragged out kicking and screaming! Literally!
