Following
the purchase of Base Bar by friends and Feel promoters Tim Pearson
and George Thompson in 1999, Philosophie started a twice weekly
bar residency.
The addition of a Friday night residency "Upstairs" at The Adelphi,
Preston, Philosophie at Indigo and Back 2 Mine at The Students'
Union has created a unique drinking experience in Preston.
Philosophie avoids the mainstream and plays cool cuts and selected
beats. The Philosophie DJs have a passion for music and have a combined
playing experience of more than 50 years.
Club
events have included "The Longest Day", "Big Night In" and in Feb
2003 the Orange Tour with Tim Deluxe, DJ Yoda and Mutiny.
Philosophie
DJs:
Will Stone (The Barefoot DJ)
Does he DJ barefoot?
Well possibly not in this cold climate, but he used to as a DJ in
the south of France. Will's musical influences stretch back more
than twenty five years when as a youngster he listened to The Beatles,
The Rolling Stones, Donovan and Mike Oldfield.
His DJing career started off when playing at house parties and local
bars during the early nineties. Flavoured by the Acid Jazz sound,
Will prefers to apply an eclectic touch to his music.
Generally you'll hear him playing deep soulful nu-jazz and electro-fused
sounds. Appearances have been made at Mersey TV for Hollyoaks/Brookside
parties, Rock FM (Emap), Kanya (Ibiza) and many more.

Dave
Williams
Dave Williams has been around longer than house itself! Producing
his northern twist on the scene, Dave led the launch of Cheeky Monkey,
a close intimate club night that kept the vibe inside and the attitude
out.
From the sun-kissed isle of Tenerife to the shores of Manchester,
Dave is a veteran with more music than HMV. Playing with Philosophie,
Dave introduces a jazz-fused sound reaching into new sounds with
reggae, hip-hop and funk

Nathan
Hearn
With the eyes and fine comb of an archaeologist when it comes to
crate digging, Nathan Hearn is Philosophie's very own Indiana Jones
when it comes to the Funk, Soul, Disco and classic hip-hop leanings
of the collective.
Never short of that one track that is bound to perk up even the
most flaccid of punter, Nathan has 10 years of the broadest range
of party making DJ experience, gigging over the years with some
of the industry's most famous, De La Soul, Soul to Soul, X-Press2
and Farley Jackmaster Funk to name just four.
The ability to act like a giggling, mischievous child before unleashing
the funkiest of music on any crowd is in the abundance with Nathan,
the only doubt you'll have is will he let the crowd go home?

Aidan
Poland
From Lancashire to the sun splashed sounds of the southern Americas,
The Philosophie percussionist adds his special flavour to the cocktail.
An
almost unhealthy fanatic of the Charlatans, and thanks to Matt Wainwright,
he is nearly a convert of disco.
As the Philosophie "bongosera" (that's bongo player to the uninitiated),
Aidan's passion of latin, funk, disco and jazz keeps the rhythm
beating throughout every Philosophie gig. Currently resident at
Back2Mine, Aidan has made this special event even more unique by
creating sunshine soul-filled percussion to match any Latin player.
