quoteWith plenty of burning ambition… 'Man On Fire' is nothing less than hot! With an expressionistic camera style, thanks to the highly stylized signature director Tony Scott and with plenty of edgy excitement, I'd say it's possibly the best action-thriller of the year.

After a wave of kidnappings in Mexico City, John Creasy (Denzel Washington)… a former government assassin, who as well as battling a few personal demons is also battling the bottle… is perhaps mistakenly entrusted with the life of Pita (the excellent and ever wiser than her years, Dakota Fanning), the young daughter of a wealthy Mexican businessman called Samuel (Marc Anthony) and his American wife Lisa (Radha Mitchell).

Creasy's primary job is to protect Pita from harm, but she also has plans for the two of them to be friends and so constantly pesters him with questions about his life.

Tortured by his secretive past however, Creasy is less than keen to provide the answers and barely tolerates this somewhat precocious child at first.

As time passes though, their bond becomes increasingly unbreakable… until Pita is snatched from his grasp that is… and that's when Creasy's new-found purpose in life is shattered and he decides to clean up his act. He turns from a man on the edge, to a man on the rampage for justifiable vengeance!

Although violent on its take on a revenge story, this film is totally compelling, mainly due to the talented and very magnetic duo, Fanning and Washington, and also gripping, with its many moments of high tension.

It's also a film with Christopher Walken and Mickey Rourke on the cast list… I mean, how many more reasons do you need to go and watch this great film?quote
