If
you're a fan of fast bikes, fast cars, fast love, in fact
just about fast everything and anything then this film is most likely
for you!
Produced
by Neal H. Moritz who subjected us to the film, '2 Fast 2 Furious'
(which incidentally wasn't a patch on 'The Fast and The Furious'),
'Torque' just recycles and reuses a well-worn formula.
To
be honest it was a bit over-charged with testosterone for my liking,
but I'd imagine pubescent boys and men who still haven't grown up
(most men then) will think it's wild and wonderful.
If
it had, had any sort of storyline it might have been OK
then
again I can't decide which was worse
the script or the acting!...
And I'm afraid it's colourful Pop Art style of filming, does nothing
to disguise these facts!
Staring
Martin Henderson as outlaw Cary Ford (let's hope his character wasn't
named after Mr. Grant, seeing as he's got about as much sophistication
here as a sack of spuds) it tells of a biker who is desperate to
clear his name, but is framed by an old rival gang leader for the
murder of another motorbike mob member, who just so happens to be
the brother of the leader of the most feared biker gang in the country,
The Reapers (confusing or what?!?!?).
Ice
Cube plays the heavy (in more ways than one), Trey, who actually
puts in the best performance in this film
but considering
he's usually a rapper in the music world, that doesn't really say
a lot.
And
in a nut shell that's just about it! If you've got a sense of humour
and want to laugh 'at', as opposed to 'with' director Joseph Kahn
for such a preposterous film then grab it on DVD now!
Don't
miss our films section!
You know you wanna have a nosey at it!
