I used to love Blackpool-i used to live in staining.It was fun to go clubbing on a friday night with friends.Now you can't go anywhere in that town without getting raped(read about that poor girl last week on the gazette website) mugged or druggies asking for money.I left Blackpool in 1990 & moved to Seattle in the U.S. Best thing i ever did!! I'm not saying it's perfect here either-but it's crime free where i live.The good old days i do miss-& i might even come back for a visit,see some of my old haunts. P.s Tell em to hurry up & knock down that horrible stinky drug infested bus station-bout time HA! Cheers everyone!!

people may moan about blackpool but i love it there . yes some areas r run down but u get anywhere the council r trying to sort it .they doing a lot of building work . was there last weekend 1st august 2008 and going again on tuesday and i cant wait . always have a good time .the people r more friendly . roll on tuesday lol

went to Blackpool on the 16th February 2008 we went with 127 friends all purchased tickets for the pleasure beach, should be renamed Unpleasant beach, qued for over an hour to get on the infusion to be told it is broken we are closing it, we went away fed up, for them to have it re running 10 mins later, Big dipper broke down , Grand national broke down, steeple chase broke down, pepsi max broke down for a short time, we went back to infusion qued for an hour again and guess what yep it broke down again never did get to ride it, no explanations given no appologies no nothing, a very poor do take your money and dont give a dam, when you payed to get on the rides in the past the rides always operated but now you pay before you ride they dont care, and I bet if you where still paying pound notes to ride it would not shut at 7 oclock, goodbye Blackpool hello Scarborough

i lived in blackpool for 20 years and it's not as the trippers see it. the town is busy and dirty in the season and the traders are rude and greedy. the corporation has never invested in the town and it just shows how tatty and seedy it is.i brought my kids there a couple of years ago and felt ashamed. lasted two days before making a run for cumbria and some pleasant people.never again.

was in south of France a few years ago sat by a swimming pool as you do when I heard a couple of women talking. One was from london and the other an American. The Londoner was really slagging off Blackpool to the American saying it was dirty and low class and rained. I really had to bite my lip! Sure there are run down areas in Blackpool but there are very many wealthy areas too. As for raining I admit it does sometimes due to its geographical location but its clean fresh rain but the sun shines too even when its raining in London, at least in Blackpool theres always something to do.I can show you plenty of dirty places in London and New York for that matter. Is it true that all Londoners eat Jellied ells, call each other Guv and live in tower blocks? I think not and whats this about drinking recycled water from the Thames? Blackpools tap water comes from the fresh English lake district, beat that!

Not goin to Blackpool in February 2008 goin 2 go at the end of March 2008 when da pleasure beach is open. Still only for 5 days even tho its 6wks later it is so worth the wait. Once you have visited Blackpool.....There is No going back, in my opinion. Also cant wait til October 2008. Blackpool - Theres Nowhere Else on Earth Like It.

I have just finished reading all the comments and I would like to answer some of those (Aussie) put downs. Before emigrating to Australia I lived in Blackpool for 10 years (the best 10 years of my life) that was fourety years ago. I now live in Australia and travelled all around this country. Although it is quiet pretty it does not compare to Blackpool. A little town in the UK has more to offer than a country the size of Europe. Perth is buatiful but don't swim in the sea or you'll get fatally stung by jellyfish or killed by sharks. Sure Blackpool's sea is polluted, just like Port Phillip Bay or the Yarra river. There are no mossies or poisenous snakes in Blackpool and the weather has nothing to do with the quality of entertainment, unlike Australia - when it rains there's not much to do. (I know you can make your own entertainment up, you can do that anywhere) Aussies are only interested in Footy, Cricket and Boozing. Sure Blackpool has its problems (so has every place) but it is the greatest holiday town in the world. There is everything anyone needs, to have a great time. Plenty for everyone to do and see no matter who you are or where you come from. You can access Blackpool from Trains, planes, boats or cars and do not have to travel for hours and hours and hours, like here in Australia. I miss Blackpool and have always compared it with places I have visited, nowhere has even come close. My fondest memory is riding down the prom in a horse and trap while having a kiss and cuddle with my new bride, strolling down the sands hand in hand with the sun setting.

Blackpool is ok and the lights are great,but over recent years it has gone downhill.........just some of the drunks who live there and some of the rough people who visit the town spoil it....and the nightlife is dire....ranging from very very camp pubs and clubs to bars with drunks in them.

Love blackpool. Have visited 4 times this last year. The tower is getting better. Love the entertainment and the sea front hotels are fantastic. Nothing like sitting in the sun lounge and watching the sea while you have a cup of tea.

blackpole is absolute tosh. anyone who cant see this needs to go abroad and visit a real town. someone said they are comin here to live, well as someone who lives here i recommend you get out of that as soon as possible. there is more teenage pregnancies, and more litter and pollution here than most places in Britain. one night in bpool, fine, but living here is not something anyone should have to endure.

I visited Blackpool with kids last month had fab time The Tower and Circus is amazing , not to be missed. xxBack again next year definately , it was the kids first time and they didn`t want to leave. The people were very friendly and helpful , stayed in a nice little B&B , all three piers were great and each had a family Bar with evening entertainment , my only disappointment was not getting to go to the top of the Tower , it was cloused due to high winds , but i will do that in the summer.

We always enjoy visiting Blackpool and bringing friends from abroad to see the Pleasure Beach and the golden sands. But we are sorry to say, that in the past few years it has lost a lot of its sparkle due to the "Hen Nights" and "Stag Nights". Blackpool is in danger of losing its Family appeal if it carries on with the loose morals that are being displayed, without any control. Please Blackpool Council, stand back and take a look from a Visitor's view, and see if you agree?

It is not nice living here, the real Blackpool is dirty, and seedy. The council never put any rates money back, it is alway private money. Come for a holiday enjoy, but never live here.

I love Blackpool, It's in my blood. Been there many times when i was a young girl. spent our honeymoon there, took the chidren there who loved it. Couldn't go this year but 30 years of memories kept the wonderful place alive in my heart.It has changed a lot since i started going there as a girl. Too many pubs and nightclubs, which can be a bit scary with the rowdy behaviour of some, but i still love the place and would love to live there.I would advise anyone with a family to go there. They will love it as there is something for everyone no mater what the season or weather.The illuminations and trams are superb, and the Tower is magnificent.

Why do all these people love Blackpool? Its not that good at all. You need to get abroad. You all musn't have tried getting through the town centre in the season or tried getting served for a drink in a bar! Its nearly impossible coz of all you holiday makers!

I'm an ex Sandgrownun and left Blackpool at 29 years old for Oz in 1981. Still come back to Blackpool from time to time to visit family & friends. Oh, the memories of digging lug worms and fishing off North Pier in the middle of winter. lol lol. But then again how can you beat the night life & the choice of all those pubs that the locals frequent. Anybody remember Jenks, the Mecca and the Dixieland Bar??? Those were a few of my old haunts. i love blackpool its the best. i came for a 4-day holiday break last month- on the last day- i didnt want to leave!.... its brilliant in the afternoon. and the best is walking home at 3 am in the morning from the night clubs at north peir end all the way to south peir to get to the b&b..ahh happy days when you have the stretch of the golden mile to yourself... love the attractions and famous people, love the friendly warm atmosphere... blackpool?..im loving it!;-)
