"Since completing studies at the University of Bolton nearly ten years ago my work has become increasingly concerned with man's relationship with the environment. The shape and placement of the structures and spaces that we call home or work; I am interested in how the inhabitants live and relate to their surrounding environment; how a living and working space is created and how they decline. These are the fascinating visible marks of living that may survive and transcend the person.

I work using a variety of media - oil, acrylic, pastel etc, sometimes as a single media or sometimes mixed. I am never tired of working in the Pennines and the Trough of Bowland, their woodlands pastures, communities and rivers are wonderful. I have an equal fascination with the sierras of Andalucía and the forests pueblos and rivers.

My first oil painting was undertaken when I was seven under the eye of my father, Burnley born George Miller, who was a keen Blackburn based artist, who was interviewed on BBC Radio Lancashire a number of times in the 1980’s. I have painted since those early days.

My inspiration often comes through walking through an environment as well as readings from land poets such as Ted Hughes, Philippe Jaccottet or Nerada.

I am a featured artist with ascot Studios Ribchester (www.ascotstudios.com) and my work can be seen there in the current exhibition. I will also be exhibiting in spring 2009 in Malaga and Chelsea.
