On the Buses

Tom Griffin gets on the buses and explores Lancashire's public transport heritage...

Lancashire has a great public transport heritage, particularly with the manufacturing of buses and coaches in Leyland.

But Preston was an important centre, too, as the headquarters of Ribble Motor Services, which was the biggest bus operator in Lancashire…with around 1400 vehicles at its peak.

Tom Griffin meets members of the Ribble Vehicle Preservation Trust as he joins them on their annual 'running day' at Carnforth Railway Station.

The documentary about Ribble brought so many memories back of Preston and the old bus station. Thanks Tom, I always enjoy your programmes.
