Dimbleby explains How We Built Lancashire

Following the success of One Picture of Britain - David Dimbleby returns with How We Built Britain. It is the dramatic story of the nation's architecture which features - amongst other extraordinary buildings - Blackpool Tower's Ballroom.

Listen to David Dimbleby talking to Ted Robbins about Britain's best buildings.

However, Ted can't pin him down on his favourite building in the series. He's far too much of a gentleman describing them all as "interesting, revealing and enticing".

As a young student nurse at Blackpool General Hospitalwhich was a training hospital then, a group of us would go dancing at the Tower and the Wintergarden every Saturday night, What fond memories I have of those lovely buildings and the people we met.It was a more gentle time then,(the mid to late fifties )we all felt so safe and free.I met and married my husband (Jack Duckworth)from Wrea Green in 1960 and have lived in San Diego California USA for the last 40 years.I will always remember The Tower Ballroom with great fondness.
