Top Rugby League referee Karl Kirkpatrick has revealed that he's about to switch codes.

Kark Kirkpatrick was a fantastic referee, probably one of the best referee's in the world. When russell smith went to aus karl was definatly number 1 ref here. His move to rugby union is a Huge loss to the RFL and they should be ashamed that they let him go. Money wasnt the issue why karl left the RFL. The fact that the RFL put Karl into the National league is the reason he went and what a shame indeed.

Chris
Good riddance, terrible ref

Rory Hiett
What a loss to the RFL, Karl always has been and always will be at the top of the RFL match officials pile. Good luck to him wherever he is, it will be a sor loss to us in the league community

Phil Robinson
Good luck to him. The RFL need to look at themselves closely, Karl is, and has been a top referee for a long time. He has had his critics but throughout everything he was always consistent.

Paul
He won't go full time - so go to the code where you don't need to run round as much.

Red Robin
Easily the best RL referee and a travesty that Karl Kirkpatrick was left off the Super league panel. RU's gain is very much RL's loss and one that the game cannot afford.

Joseph Kearns
Pity he's going I always thought he was as good as any other ref. It would be great if he could take Ashley Klien with him!

John Craig
I wish Karl all the best, this is not like all the League players who went to Union for money, this is simply because his career outside of Rugby League is to important for him to sacrifice to enable him to go full time and let's face it Knowing the RFL's track record, the full time referee status could very well dissappear after one season and where would that leave Karl?.....looking for a job! Good Luck in Union ........but be prepared to be blamed for every bad result because you came from League! (just ask big FAZ!!!!)
