BBC BusYou are in: Lancashire > BBC Face 2 Face > BBC Bus > Big bus blog - Chatsworth Library Big bus blog - Chatsworth LibraryThe BBC Bus team liven up Chatsworth library in Fleetwood... ------ WEDNESDAY 31 JANUARY ![]() (l-r) Margaret the volunteer, Pastor Augusta Gibril and Sal looking slightly mad (for a change). ------ Some times it looks like the program will never go ahead, today was one of those days. Its 1:30pm and there isn’t a soul around, the library doesn’t open on Wednesdays so no body walks past. Just when you start to panic, people start turning up and the panic is over. Meet the pastor – Augusta Gibril, a larger than life fantastic lady who will talk your ears off if you let her. Chris again is sneezing like a good ‘un but cheered up somewhat when Harry brought us some scones with a pot of cream….mmmmmm. We must look trustworthy as yet again an establishment has given us a key to open up. US! They must be mad! We don’t trust us so it beggars belief others do. We aren’t grown up enough you see, No – we are not kidding. So far on the Bus we have saved a virtual 32020 kg of virtual carbon – this is the latest BBC campaign, we are asking people to make a pledge to reduce their carbon footprint. I bet you didn’t even know you had one – you do though and it’s about time you spent some time addressing this situation, rather than putting your tele on standby at night, get up off your jacksie and turn it off. You have been told. The BBC Bus team------ TUESDAY 30 JANUARY ![]() (l-r) George who has volunteered for years, people taking advantage of courses on offer and Scout leader Belinda. ------ Do you know where you were when President Kennedy was assassinated when Elvis died and when Princess Diana was killed in the car crash? Well we can remember a few of them but we will remember where we were when Blackpool lost its casino proposal. Manchester won and the bus went very quiet, we were shocked to say the least. Anyway that’s old news now, onward and upwards as they say. Apologies to the fella who lives opposite the bus and to the wagon drivers that have had to reverse all the way back along St Johns Avenue because we have blocked the road, it won’t happen tomorrow. Running with a 56k modem today and it’s like surfing the net through treacle that said it works and it’s what we are using to post this, we also broadcast using the same telephone line. Seems there could be a shortage of light bulbs in the town as there has been a run on the bus with people turning up, slavering and looking at us through glazed fevered eyes demanding light bulbs. These aren’t any normal light bulbs; these are 21st century all singing all dancing make your breakfast in the morning, energy saving light bulbs. These little darlings are supposed to last for 6 years, so come to the bus and get your bulbs. Quiet day but quiet some times is good. The BBC bus team------ MONDAY 29 JANUARY ![]() (l-r) Clare has been in this game all her life, the library and Maura - happy to help! ------ When you leave the county's motorways and hit the A and B roads you expect to arrive at your location fairly quickly. We are very well covered in this part of the world, so trips out tend to hit problems on the motorways, once you leave the motorway it is likely to be gravy. That’s not what happens when you go to Fleetwood; you leave the M55 at Kirkham and your journey has only just begun – in fact it hasn’t even started really as Amonderness way looms before you. It’s well worth the effort though dear reader as Fleetwood offers so much, shall we list them? Well we could but that would be a dull read indeed. Listen to us throughout the day to hear what’s right and what’s wrong with this lovely seaside town. Monday finds us outside Chatsworth library, built in the 60’s it’s a dinky little thing – size however precious reader isn’t everything. It smacks of times when reading a book was an exiting thing to do, times when X boxes were thought to contain the same stuff you found under your dads bed. We are looking forward to this week; we have already met some right characters and are looking forward to meeting more. The BBC bus team------ last updated: 10/10/07 Have Your Say
