BBC BusYou are in: Lancashire > BBC Face 2 Face > BBC Bus > Big bus blog - Bilsborrow Big bus blog - BilsborrowMeet up with the gang (talking food for a change!) at the White Bull Pub in Bilsborrow. ------ ![]() FRIDAY 22 DECEMBER 2006 (l-r) Sally, Chris and Sue with their pressies! ------ "After a week of moaning, Sue at last got to un-wrap her pressies today! Chris rather hoped he could un-wrap Sue, but instead was presented with a bikini clad beer, which looks just as good and doesn’t answer back! Sally bought Chris the very aptly titled, ‘Dad Dancing’, album and Chris fetched the girls gifts that only two fine Lancashire (well Kentish for Sally, but she does have a passport) lasses deserve - food and booze – which amazingly hasn’t been attacked yet. The Freckleton Brass Band were on hand to spread a some Christmas sparkle, as were a whole load of mince pies (surprise, surprise). It was almost an idyllic festive setting, until Chris and Sally started dancing and singing that is. No wonder the snow’s on its way! Speaking of snow, enjoy a snowball or two over the holidays, together with your Christmas pud, Yule log, turkey… turkey curry... turkey butties… turkey hash… And remember, when you’ve overindulged and made your New Year's resolutions for 2007, the BBC Bus Team will be on hand from 8 January at Sure Start in Preston, to help you stick to what you’ve pledged. So whether it’s quitting smoking, losing weight or keeping fit, Sal, Sue and Chris will be joined by plenty of experts with advice and help tailored to your needs. Take the time to join them if you can, or listen between 2-3pm. Incidentally in 2007, Chris has promised not to chat up quite so many of the guests, Sally will try not to inform us about each and every hot flush she has, and Sue will endeavour to get Chris back for the handcuffs prank! Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!" The BBC bus team------ ![]() THURSDAY 21 DECEMBER 2006 (l-r) Dodgy-sausage Sue, a lycra-clad BBC engineer, a messy chameleon and Mr Naden. ------ "After a night with some dodgy sausages, Sue was feeling more than a little worse for wear this morning, but she soldiered on because Sally had an appointment with the ornithologist – or at least that’s who Chris said she had gone to see. When Sue pointed out that had something to do with birds, Chris still protested by saying, “Sally is a bird”, but it was in fact the oncologist Sally had gone to see! By the way, Sally’s in fine fettle and rejoined the team at lunchtime. Although, she did say she was still recovering after seeing BBC Radio Lancashire Engineer, George, in his lycra yesterday. A keen cyclist, he stopped off at the BBC Bus in Bilsborrow during his 35 mile ride. Chris spent most of the today cleaning up after yesterday’s chameleon visitors and fixing one of the Bus computers, while Sally’s husband, Dave, spent most of the time working out how to use one! Sue almost had to explain why the mouse didn’t squeek or eat cheese." The BBC bus team------ ![]() WEDNESDAY 20 DECEMBER 2006 (l-r) Sal chats to Doris, Sue gets cuffs instead of pressies, and Karaoke Keith sings for his supper. ------ "Unable to contain her festive excitement any longer, Sue arrived extra early this morning armed with Christmas gifts for Sally and Chris, but they refuse to exchange presents until Friday. Like a persistent child Sue stamped her feet and moaned a little harder than usual, but to no avail. It’s bad enough having them as Bus parents, without them being complete Scrooges! Receptionist Sarah brought along some Christmas cheer though when she handed out mince pies. She’s from Chorley you see and can’t go anywhere without her shortcrust! ‘Keith the Cook’ at the White Bull in Bilsborrow, is at nights and weekends known as ‘Karaoke Keith’, so Sal made sure he sang for her, unaccompanied no less, and to the only song he knows all the words to, ‘Angels’, by Robbie Williams. Sal then made friends with two partially sighted bowlers, who unsurprisingly did a lot better than her on the green. Doris has played for England don’t you know! Whereas Sal’s much more accustomed to getting grass stains! Meanwhile, after Sue’s many attempts this week to handcuff Chris with the cuffs a policeman gave to the BBC Bus Team last week when they were at Bardon Mill, Chris actually got Sue with her own prank. He’ll be getting a seasonal ASBO if he’s not careful, instead of his pressies. There’ll be tears before bedtime!" The BBC bus team------ ![]() TUESDAY 19 DECEMBER 2006 (l-r) Jean, Peter and Sparky. Feel free to make up your own caption for the picture of Sally and Sue! ------ "Jean, Peter and their dog, Sparky, our FOMO (Friends of Mulanje Orphans) friends were the first visitors to the BBC Bus today and they fetched with them a bottle and some choccies for Christmas. Thank you! Then ‘Mick the Belt’ brought along one of his hand made creations. Although, with all of the troughing Chris, Sal and Sue have been doing lately, they’ve had trouble squeezing into the belt! You would have thought Sally might have lost a few pounds after last night though, she decided to ‘nip’ down the road to Garstang to see the Victorian Festival. Little did she know when she set off though, that it would actually take an hour and a half to get there! Sal even had the cheek to ring her Dad to pick her up and drive her back to her car, which was still in the car park at the White Bull in Bilsborrow. Dads will do anything for their little girls (even if they are 51!) With jelly legs Sally today decided that clambering onboard Memories, one of the barges at the canal in Bilsborrow, to meet owner John would be a good idea." The BBC bus team------ ![]() MONDAY 18 DECEMBER 2006 (l-r) Chris "I know how to do the technical stuff y'know!" Thornley, Sal and Sue decorate and Rino thanks the heavens for chips ------ "He could put it off no longer, with his ear infection gone it was time for a bit of ear bashing from the girls for Chris, as they headed to The White Bull at Bilsborrow with the BBC Bus. It began early with Sue telling Chris how he should be doing his job, when rigging all of the power cables to the Bus. He’s only been doing it for 6 years!!
