Darbyshire admitted rape and indecent assault
Graham Darbyshire

Justice - 11 years on

BBC Radio Lancashire's Chris Rider speaks to the Witton Park rape victim, as her attacker is sentenced following an investigation that lasted 11 years...

For  the victim of this terrible crime it's been a long wait to see her attacker brought to justice.

It was back on 8 October 1995 when the woman, who was then 22, was attacked after going out for a Sunday morning walk at Witton Park.

Apart from an interview for the BBC's Crimewatch UK programme she has never spoken about that fateful day.

Now that Graham Darbyshire is behind bars, the victim spoke to BBC Radio Lancashire's News Editor Chris Rider about what happened and the effects on her life...

I only found out this horrific news after a visit on Fri 9th Feb 2007 to an old employeer of mine. Having worked with Darbyshire during 1994- 2003 i was not suprised this sick perverted man committed such an act. I can only feel sorrow yet relief for this innocent young girl.My faith in our Police has now been restored.
