Blackburn Rovers

Mark Hughes with Andy Bayes

McCarthy 'worth the wait'

Mark Hughes says it's exciting times for Blackburn with the arrival of Benni McCarthy at Ewood Park.

The Rovers boss admits he's delighted to have him on board after a lengthy chase for the striker.

He told BBC Radio Lancashire's Andy Bayes he expects Benni McCarthy to be a vital addition Rovers and that he'd still like to strengthen the squad.

Hughes said: "We've had to wait but the wait will be worth it and people will see what a good player Benni McCarthy is."
