Gerald Jackson

Gerald Jackson

A familiar voice at Ewood Park, he's been on air since 1971.

------

Gerald Jackson started working at BBC Radio Leeds in 1968.

He began at what was "BBC Radio Blackburn" two years later, and stayed on full-time for until 1992! He first went on air on 26 January 1971.

Since those days he has presented most weekday programmes, including a breakfast show once known as "First Edition".

After going freelance he became a promotions producer.

Nowadays of course it is BBC Radio Lancashire, but you can still hear him every Monday between 1900 and 2200 with Unforgettable.

And of course... you might also hear him "down at the Rovers", on a match day.

Dear Gerald, Thank you so much for playing my request, Three Coins in the Fountain - Frank Sinatra (I nearly fell off the chair I was sitting on) - sorry I was unable to thank you whilst you were on air.I never told you in my original request that my family and myself originate from Yorkshire - so it was equally a surprise and a pleasure when you finished the show with "On Ilkley Moor" - this was one of the "songs" we use to sing on the traing journeys to the coast when my brother and I were small.Yours truly - Glynis.PS: Loved the show - as always.

Alf in Astley

Answer for Bob Hooton ...Hi Bob - Strange thing about digital 'freeview' receivers is that they all seem to have different sensitivity. So an apparent poor signal on one box/tv might be quite good on another. I'm no expert, but you should be able to plug any 'freeview' or 'satellite' box in to your Plasma without any problems at all. Thanks for your interest.

Don
Excellent programme. Listened for the first time today. Will make it regular

Bob Hooton
Big Boys ToysI have a Nokia Digital Decoder set top box for use with my old TV. I now have a digital TV (Panasonic Plasma 37) but the reception (especially ITV channels is irratic. I have added the nokia and all is well. Will this do any harm to the TV?

barbara

ALAN UPHOLLAND
Many thanks for Ray Charles record we heard yesterday. This one was first requested by Joyce my wife on BFPO 69 when Alan was in Aden before I joined him long time ago. Thank you also for Shrimp Boats Are Comming by Jo Stafford also Alan used to be on the shrimp boats sailing from Fleetwood in the 50s. Best Regards Joyce & Alan Holmes.

ALAN UPHOLLAND
HI GERALD DID YOU HAVE ANY LUCK IN FINDING SHRIMP BOATS ARE COMMING SUNG BY JO STAFFORD REGARDS KEEP TAKING THE TABLETS ALAN.

Phil in Penwortham
Great show on a Monday night. You have certainly brought back some happy memories of songs I heard as a child. Are you Radio Lancashire's "Uncle Mac"? You've definitely dug deep in the BBC Archives. The list is endless for your show. Anyway talking about lists, you may consider a list of "The Elements" sung and played by Tom Lehrer. Quite a memory challenge for any singer but easier for a singing chemist!

Anne Wilson
Could you please play any Frank Sinatra or my dad, Richard Banks who was 85 on the 12 Sept. He is the best dad ever. Also this is for his brother Bob who will be 80 in December. They are both still very active and walk round Haslam Park daily. So this is also for the friends on't park.

M.Young
Hello Gerald Great show on Mondays. You play the good stuff. But the record you played of DARKTOWN POKER CLUB,Am i right in stating that was not PHIL HARRIS voice YOURS M YOUNG
