Ted Robbins

Ted Robbins

Liverpool-born Ted took a degree in English and Drama from Liverpool University and immediately went to Butlins as a redcoat!

George Harrison album

Album of the Week - 22nd June
"Let It Roll" by George Harrison

Monday: Any Road
Tuesday: While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Wednesday: All Those Years Ago
Thursday: Here Comes The Sun
Friday: My Sweet Lord

------

There's a new feature on Ted's show called "Music to Make You Feel Good On A Friday" (snappy little title huh?!)

Basically every Friday we'll be featuring a couple of songs requested by you. The songs need to be those classics that when you hear them instantly make you want to sing along, or get up and dance, but generally make you feel really good and very happy!

So get your requests in to the blonde!

------

A career in theatre and television has seen him play many parts as well as starring with his sister Kate in shows on ITV, and presenting quiz and gameshows such as Quiz Night, Bratpack, and Chainletters.

Generally recognised as one of the top TV warm-up studio hosts in the country, Ted has recently been returning to dramatic ways with appearances in Holby City, Merseybeat, Doctors, Brookside, and is universally hated as the man who burned down the Phoenix club - Den Perry - in Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights.

Ted married an Accrington-girl, Judy, and they live in Rossendale, with their two children, Jack and Molly.

Hi Ted,Just to keep you up to date on how my list is going. I have now had several Drum lessons with Big Marts Drum School in Colne. Even if I say so myself it's going pretty well!! I am off to Bridlington this weekend (I have changed the Soul All Nighter to a weekender)I can't wait!!!!! You never know I may get the chance to ride a donkey. There may be a chance to sing with a local group Soul Deep at the end of the year. Perhaps you could invite them into the studio for a chat when the arrangements are confirmed.Thank you once again for 'fixing it' for me to ride on the Big One, it really got the ball rolling for me to do all the other fun things. It will soon be my big Birthday, so goodness knows what's in store for the future.Thank You once agiain,Suey B.

Stu, Leyland (not Whalley)

Biker Nigel

Dave Bradley

I listen to your show every morning after 9am stuck in the traffic on M65 you make I have agreed with your rants so many times. Last Thursday I was feeling gutted as a Chelsea Fan and you went on and on about their behaviour. Granted at 9.15am in the cold light of day but after all that at 10pm the night before. I felt bad never mind them!Sorry to say I turned you off

Paul, Haslingden
Great rant and show (Thurs,7th May) Radio 5 Live doesn't know what it is missing. Keep smiling - talent will out!

Robert le breton
Ted, my mum, Catherine le breton is 86, lives alone in Blackpool, I visit her daily to help her out with her limited mobility. Partially sited, in April 2008 she broke her hip and this has further limited her movement. When I visit her each lunchtime she always gives me reports on your show. I know that she relies heavily on you to touch out and entertain her, as you do, it's a credit to your style that she feels part of your programme. She reported to me the sad loss of your father who she said had been in the studio with you the week before. Thank you for making her happy and keep up your contribution you make to many elderly lancastrians who religiously follow you daily and miss you when you are on holiday or in panto!Perhaps you might play an oldie for her, something from south pacific would be magnificent. She is a very caring and honest person. Her son,Robert le breton of Kirkham

Steph, Blackpool
Thank you so much for the brilliant rant on Thursday morning, about us all doomed, dying of swine flu! Don't you fret about people complaining. You're just saying what the majority of us think anyway! The media always hype up everything as usual. Oh, and I liked your other rant about Housebuyer Man. Absolutely agree. I want more tales of Billy the Bailiff... could catch on. Adore the programme, as always.

Kate P
Once again I am enjoying your programme which i dont often get to hear as i am normally working at this time. Im not very well taking a few days off. I come from Burnley so have read John Cowells books and have loved to read about him and his family. I shall look forward to his new book. Once i was part of a wonderful community there , and have funny memories of running a hairdressing salon between Healey Wood/ Burnley Wood area of Burnley. Maybe i should write them down?Do continue to make us laugh Ted, its good medicine ! Take care

Carol Fielding

FREDA

Arthur ,Blackpool
You're a funny man as it is - no need to resort to smut in front of your 15 year old female guest as happened today. Also what is your obsession with trying to find out if anyone you are interviewing is of the same faith as you are ?

FREDA
Is this bloke ever on, get Phil on all the time and put Ted out to grass

Nigel from Morecambe
Love the rants :))

Slave-woman Janet

Kim Simcock
Hi Ted, love the show, love your sense of humour and especially the rants. I've enjoyed texting in and sharing with the banter. I'll get my Donny record out of you one day. Brilliant poetry on Thursdays. Keep up the good work, love you almost as much as my hubby, kids, dogs and Donny xx

imthestig
todays red nose day show was worth all the licence fee.

Marianne
Only found out today about the passing of Ted's dad. I was so sorry to hear about it. I really enjoyed it when he came into the studio and talked to Ted about days gone by. I lost my dad recently but he had dementia so in many ways we lost him long before his passing. You all seemed to take such care of your dad until the end and I am sure he enjoyed every minute and must have been delighted to see you all being such brilliant entertainers in your different ways.

phil from southport

So sorry to hear about your Dad, Ted - my sympathies to you and your family. On a lighter note the call you had from Paul the plasterer last week was the funniest thing I've heard in a long time, and wasn't the "posh" lady a good sport!

mark from ormskirk
ted you are a radio genious. i love your show and listen every day. your comic humour has me in stitches please keep us all laughing for many years to come

christine bennett. Blackrod
Hi Ted. love your show with the rants and "jokes", and the interviews with celebs.I was listening on Fri 20th Feb when you mentioned your dear Dad had passed away, i am so sorry, especially after losing your Mum exactly 12 months earlier, my thoughts are with you and all the family. I was in a similar situation in 2006/7, when i lost my husband suddenly and then my Dad exactly 6months to the day and date after my husband, also suddenly, so i know what you will be going through. Luckily we still have my Mum who has just turned 87, and is very special to us all.So i say appreciate and love what family you have, you never know what is round the corner.Take care. Christine.

Mel
Listen to Teds show everday. Especially liked todays show with his sister Kate. Had to me in stitches for some of it. Keep up the good work Ted. By the way I have already purchased Kate's cd and it is ace. Also something I listen to on a regular basis.

Paul, Haslingden
Chill out Sheila! When he's on form, like this morning, Ted's a radio genius without peer.

sheila burnell
I thought the comments about Christine Bleakley and the one show were uncalled at least the content is better than "give us a ring when you spot the first crocus etc. on a previous programme of yours+leave the girl alones she has held resposible work for the bbc previously. I shall not be listening to your rants any more.

Paul
Your recent piece on regionalisation of the Beeb was extremely funny the other day - Adrian Brummie Childs and the lovely Christine can't tell a word she says Bleakley. Great stuff keep it up.

spencer

ted i was listening to you today about tv and missed the title of the book great programmejanet

lydia
loved your program yesterday having a go at the tv programs. You would be ideal on The One Show instead of that other idiot!!

Kate
Love your show! Loved the pies the other day.I was most upset to hear that filming is being halted on Heartbeat and The Royal, they are both great shows enjoyed by many people, not everyone wants to see nothing but reality tv. Not to mention the impact it will have on local businesses who rely on the additional income generated. Ted please tell Amy we love her too.

Sir Bill T
Tedward...get this answered...What was the best thing BEFORE sliced bread?

Anne Turner
I remember Ted from when I used to work at Asda in Rawtenstall (now Tesco). I didn't realise who he was then ( I was only 19!), but he used to shop with his wife and daughter Mollie, who was only a toddler at the time! I listen to Ted now in a morning on my way to Whitworth every morning, where I am about to set up my new business. Ted was always very nice, & I love his wit on the 9am show!

Sheila and Karen
