Steve Royle

Steve Royle

Being a juggler, Steve Royle is well suited to radio. It has often been commented that he as the face for it too.

Steve is a comedian, actor, writer, husband and Dad. His wife, Janet, actually went into labour with their first child, Daisy, whilst Steve was presenting live on air with Sally Naden!

Steve Royle

For over 12 years Steve could be found in the guise of "Mad Edgar" the court jester at Camelot theme park where he presented over 2000 "Crazy Juggling Shows". He has also supported both Peter Kay and Dave Spikey on tour and was voted "Entertainer of the Year" at the recent Red Rose Awards.

His many TV appearances have included "Phoenix Nights", "Max & Paddy", "Behind The Scene", "That's Entertainment", "Stand-up Britain", "Give Your Mate A Break", "The Afternoon Show", "Talk Of The North", "The Things You Do For Love", and despite being one of the North West's healthiest males, a medical insurance commercial for "Medicash".

Steve is also co-founder of the "Slaughterhouse- Live" ("Laughter" with an "S") character comedy nights. The group regularly perform at "The Comedy Store" and they were nominated in the "best touring show" category at the Manchester Comedy Awards, losing out to Peter Kay!

In his rare spare time Steve prefers to throw food around the kitchen rather than balls in the air, as he loves cooking, and dreams of one day owning his own "Juggler" themed restaurant where all dishes are served in 3's! Let's hope it "Catches On"!

Steve hits the airwaves Saturdays between 10am – 1pm.

Have Your Say

Tell us what you think of Steve...

Steve Fan
Pleeeeeeease no more old man Joe! I thought my radio had done a Life on Mars and gone back to the 70's!

Finbar (the original one)
No, you may be "A" Finbar, but I am "The" Finbar. The definate article you might say. The real Finbar has always supported Steve, as scrolling down the comments below will testify. Only recently has the imposter reared his (or should that be her) head up.

Sam
Anyone is 100% better than the juggler! Just juggle will 'ya and leave radio to presenters.

REAL FINBAR
KEEP JOE ON 100% better than the JUGGLER

Finbar
Looking forward to Steve coming back. He was much missed last Saturday, though Joe made a good job standing in.

Sam
What a pleasant change to be able to listen to the radio on a Sat morning without retuning - suppose SR will be back next week though!

helen
hi steve been to see your show today was absolutly fantastic made me laugh so much my mum enjoyed it to keep up the good work x

Finbar
Well done Joe 100% improvement for 3 hrs on a Saturday worth listening to with you.

Finbar
That last comment was not from me! We have an imposter in our midst. Steve may not appeal to everyone, but that is because everyone's humour is different. As far as I am concerned he is the Clown Prince of Radio Lancashire Land.

tom middleton
smashing great

Finbar
Get this bloke off the airways he is such a bore for 3hrs

Norman Suchorzewski
Hi Steve I am really looking forward to meeting you on the show on Saturday.I first saw you at Camelot and your juggling abilities inspired me to give it a go. I hope that together we can do the same for archery in the North West, with The Bowmen of Pendle and Samlesbury.

helen
oh steve how can people dis you like they do think they need to get a life me and my mum love listening to you on a sat and are gutted when your not there pls leave him alone as hes so funny

Barry
So scientists reckon twelve laughs a day is good for your health. Wont get very healthy listening to this show, then (heh, heh, heh).

Finbar
Cheers for that, Steve. I remember seeing The Clash at Liverpool Royal Court, along with Bauhaus and Chorley's own John Foxx. Now I can add Mad Edgar to the list.

Chris, Tottington, Lancashire
Steve, excellent stuff old chap, keep it up - a delight to listen to on Saturdays and on the odd occasion when you're in for someone else; keeps the chuckle muscles in good working order!Ignore the negative comments on here, they are not constructive, a monument was never erected to a critic ... and nearly all negativity comes from the same 4 or 5 people, who think that by repeating their displeasure every couple of weeks, they will get their way! They must keep listening to be able to comment!!More Steve Royle please.

Steve Royle
Good news indeed Finbar. Although Mad Edgar is being re-born for a one off gig in the Liverpool Comedy festival 8th May at The Royal Court anyway!

Finbar
Good news about Camelot being saved. At least Steve will have something to fall back on should his critics get their way. The return of Mad Edgar?

Barry
I don't think Steve is only funny for half an hour. I'm sure he could stretch it by another five minutes.

Dave (Blackburn)
Karla, Sam and Jeff .. the difference is that Trowy is a radio presenter whilst Steve is a comedian. Like any comedian, Steve is only funny for so long. Radio Lancs should give him a half hour comedy spot and leave presenting to proper presenters.

Karla
Well done Phil can we have more of you on a saturday plz,a joy to listen again on a Saturday.

Sam
Olwyn, I hope he does go far - far, far away.

Jeff
What a breath of fresh air Phil Trow was on Saturday - more please........

Cindy Jones
On BBC iPlayer it has a section called 'More Like This'Your show doesn't have one - there's nothing like you lot!!More 'cheap laughs' please - just what's needed in a credit crunch!XXX

Asif.
BBC what has Happened here? This is not entertainment it's cheap laughs but not funny now.I don't listen anymore now.

Barry
Well, in this age of recycling, rubbish can be very useful.

Frank
Karen, me too, I am in full agreement - what a load of rubbish.

Karen Q
Comedy? Funny? I have missed something then.

Anne
any chance of a sound clip of mc Bill Hoody on your web page? I was trying to describe him to a friend but can't do the badger sketches the justice he deserves!!love your barmy show x

olwyn
I live in cheshire but saw steve in the comedy store in newcastle. what an absolute laugh I had watching him. He is of the old school of comiediens,on a par with les dawson and morcombe and wise. steve you will go far

fiona jones
Top man, with great joy and zest for life, amazing humour and capacity for playful fun, love it, keep it going, and all those who scoff....let em, you can't please all so make sure you please yourself!

Finbar
Karla - Steve's fans can argue that they are licence fee payers too. So are you saying Mr. Claypole should ignore them and only take notice of negative critics like you? Hardly seems fair.

Karla
When is Mr Claypole going to take notice of the people who pay there wages every week and get rid of this so called presenter and others who are as bad.He is propably still in bed after his fnat program asleep and does not hear it

pablo
give the elves a bigger slot plz

Barry
Graham - How do they get away with it? probably because some of us are still missing Tiswas on Saturday mornings.

Finbar
Listening to our comments being impersonated last Saturday, I thought Fingers did me better than I do.

Graham
I listened on Saturday and felt compelled to find this page to complain - at least I'm not alone in thinking how do they get away with such rubbish?

Bill
Steve, you asked for our comments. The show is rubbish but would improve 100% if you got rid of your side kick!

Gill
Absolute idiot. For goodness sake get some decent presenter on a Saturday morning

Chris, Leyland
Samantha- by the same logic Des, Derek, Andy, Phil, Barry, Finbar etc... can't all be wrong!!I think it's a question of personal taste. Why can't you accept that some people love Steve & co? Keep it up gang, very entertaining!

Finbar
Samantha - well never mind. I hear Wossy is back on Radio 2 on Saturday mornings. You could all listen to him instead & then everyone will be happier. Wont they?

Samantha
To Finbar - What about Ken, Clive, Bill, Flossie etc. - can't all be wrong.

Andy.
Cheap radio thrills....without the thrills.

Barry
Karla - I'm not having that! I have heard far worse radio presenters than those two.

Finbar
Has anyone else noticed that Steve's biggest critics are all called Karla or Samantha? Does this mean Karlies and Sammies don't do Stevies?

Karla
Surely R Lancs can find somebody else on a Saturday morning, because this bloke and sidekick must be the worst presenters on RADIO.He thinks he is funny I DON'T THINK SO utter rubbish is the word

Samantha
Totally agree with Ken - this show is worse than dreadful.

Ken in Padiham
Utter rubbish. He might be a nice guy, but this show has lost all direction. Dreadful.

jessica
hiya i liked your cinderella pantomine steve and plz could u put it on u tube so other people can see it who aint seen it becoz i would like to watch it again xx

Garth Thomasson
Great show steve. I look forward to Saturdays. One comment about the desert rats that can mate over one hundred times in a hour. After a six month tour of Iraq or Afghanistan they will be feeling a bit randy on arriving home.A question. In which Olympic games did the first Royal take part in one of the events?
