Cotterill nets Lee Grant

Burnely manager Steve Cotterill has been successful in landing a loan keeper ahead of the weekend game against Leicester...with England Under 21 International, Lee Grant joining from Derby on a months loan.

Burnley were desperate for cover with Brian Jensen suspended for Saturday's game and Danny Coyne out for the season with a knee injury.

Steve Cotterill will be delighted he's managed to secure such a quality keeper on loan - which is one of the hardest positions to fill and despite his age, 21 year old Grant has plenty of first team experience - having played 38 league and cup games for the Rams in 2003-4 season. However, Grant has been out of favour last season with just two  appearances, one of them against Burnley at Turf Moor in the Championship.

An England U21 international, he's the product of the Derby County Academy and actually chose Pride Park over Stamford Bridge, having already trained with Chelsea before deciding on the Midlands side.

Interestingly, he made his first appearance in the first team against Burnley at Pride Park back in September 2002 before taking over the number one spot.

He goes straight into the squad for Saturday's home game against Leicester.

  • Meanwhile, captain Frank Sinclair misses out on facing his former club, he's suspended after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season in the 2-1 win over Millwall.
