View of the Marine Hall from the Mount

The Mount

Head up the hill to the right, following the path up to where the Mount building stands. Take a look at that view! We’ll be getting a bit closer to the sea as we continue with our walk, so don’t worry about leaving this view behind.

Enjoy a walk through the gardens

The tides used to be so high that they came all the way up to the Mount, but the tides changed over the years, so in the 1920s and 1930s the reclaimed land was re-developed into a typical holiday town seafront.

The Marine Hall was built, alongside gardens, a bowling green, a boating lake and a golf course.

The Marine Hall Gardens

The Marine Hall is the building with the domed roof and is the main entertainment venue in the town. It’s also home to the annual beer festival. The Beatles once played here, in 1962, and when John Lennon was a young boy he came on holiday to Fleetwood to stay with his Aunt.

Head down the hill, towards The Mount pub, taking the right fork out of the park. Cross the road, bearing left slightly, follow the road down to the sea front.

On your right you’ll see an opening to the Marine Hall Gardens. Carry on towards the sea front, either on the road or through the gardens.
