Gloria - star of the Legends of the Lost Lagoon

Legend of the Lost Lagoon
Ever been amazed by computer games graphics? Blast reporter Dom Sanna meets Oswaldtwistle's Dan Clarke, a graphic design student, who is co-creater of a new computer game - Legend of the Lost Lagoon.

Legend of the Lost Lagoon, the new point-and-click adventure from the Team Yeki Project isn't set to rupture any graphical boundaries, sell millions of copies or even break the adventure game mould. It just wants to jump-start the fading genre with a dark yet hilarious new story.

The Oswaldtwistle based developers have set out to create something that many gamers have been yearning for. With the cancellation of the Lucasarts sequel to Sam & Max and no immediate plans for another Monkey Island game, hardcore fans of point and click games have been left disappointed by the once mighty creators at Lucasarts.

Legend of the Lost Lagoon centres on a young girl - Gloria Lapointe - and her mysterious adventure whilst holidaying at her grandparents. Whilst on a fishing trip with her grandfather, Gloria somehow stumbles upon the lost fishing town of Lamprey.

Legend has it that two young twin brothers disappeared in suspicious circumstances whilst out playing with a friend, this was over half a century ago, but the town has never recovered from the tragedy.

The game will be released in chapters, which players will be available to download for free, however there are no official release dates yet.

Co-creator and lead graphic artist Dan Clarke explained: "We wanted to harness our skills and experiences into creating a tale. Nowadays to tell a story you don't have to write a book, or even draw a comic, we're utilising the next generation of storytelling techniques.

"The story and scripting reflect our own senses of humour and personal experiences whilst growing up in the cultural confines of East Lancashire. Like the League of Gentlemen in computer game form."
