Using a spreadsheet
Keeping Track

Alistair works at a local shop that sells music. One of his jobs is to keep track of the CDs and re-order them when necessary.

The shop has bought a computer and he has decided that the best way to monitor and update stock is to use a spreadsheet. Alistair needs to decide what information he wants it to contain.

key point Different types of information can be included on a spreadsheet such as:

  • Text
  • Numbers
  • Formulas (or formulae)

Alistair will need to use all of these in his spreadsheet.

There is a variety of different software
programs that contain spreadsheets.

Most of them work in the same way so
don't worry if you don't have the latest one.

Go next to have a look at how Alistair will start putting the spreadsheet together.
