Lisa Roberts is studying for an HND in Hospitality Management. She would like to work in a management or supervisory position, possibly in a restaurant, pub or hotel.
Lisa was given the opportunity to spend three days working in the Conference and Sales division of the flagship hotel for the Marriott chain, The Forest of Arden.
Lisa was set to work in the Conference and Events department. It wasn't long before she received a call from a potential client who wanted to hold a conference at the hotel. It was Lisa's job to manage the account from start to finish.
Lisa was expected liaise with the client about availability, numbers, prices, facilities and accommodation. Her brief was to find out about their requirements and put together a package of accommodation and services at a price that was agreeable to the client and profitable for the hotel.
