The Contenders

Accountancy report

Mithun Babbar has finished his A-Levels and is studying for a degree in Economics and Management. He aim is to get a job in high finance, so he went off to spend three days with one of the UK's largest financial services firms.

Price Waterhouse Coopers LLP is one of the big players in the industry, dealing with professional services ranging from accountancy to corporate finance.

The Brief

Mithun was asked to put together a fifteen minute presentation about developments in the life insurance industry. The information he gathered would then be used by his Senior Manager to pass on information to the rest of her staff.

For his presentation, Mithun was told to include information on who the big players are and on the state of the life insurance industry in the UK. He also needed to assess what the implications would be if there were worldwide common standards for the industry.

This was a wide brief, so Mithun had to concentrate on only the relevant points. Issues like international accounting standards are complicated and this task would normally be given to someone with two to three years experience.
