Romany Roots: Charlotte

Charlotte's family

Groups of young Travellers have been working in some of the county's schools to produce material for the Voices website as well as for broadcast on BBC Radio Kent.

Charlotte tells of of the days when her parents and grand-parents went hop picking.

"My name is Charlotte. This is my family sitting round the yog. This photograph was taken when my mum was sixteen years old, she was hop picking near Sittingbourne. They used to sing around the fire and sing Patsy Kline and Kiddy Wells. My family are sitting on petrol cans and dustbins."
