Romany Roots: Charlene' story

Charlene

Groups of young Travellers have been working in some of the county's schools to produce material for the Voices website as well as for broadcast on BBC Radio Kent.

Charlene tells about her life, and how she sees the future for her Gypsy heritage.

"My name is Charlene and I am a born and bred Traveller from Kent. I live on my grandad's yard with my mother and my brother and sisters. I still live in a trailer and I have got my own tourer with my sister Jossy girl. My granddad has lots of horses and dogs, my granny always cooks on a Sunday and so does my mother. I think that the Travelling way will never die."
