Around 275 officers are currently taking part in Operation Abacus.

Kent Police have carried out high profile drugs raids in North Kent before but this is the biggest yet.

Around 50 police vehicles drove in convoy to the Isle of Sheppey to target the homes of suspected heroin and crack cocaine dealers in four different locations.

In his pre-raid briefing the Assistant Chief Constable said the force had put a great deal of time and effort into the operation and warned his officers to be aware of what he described as the "tragic events in Manchester last night" when carrying out the raid.

The number of people arrested is expected to be known later on today.
