I’m a bit of a Johnny-Come-Lately to broadcasting, having spent most of my years since school messing around in bands. In fact I only started my career in journalism in 2003 - with the loyal support of my wife and a good deal of trepidation, I went back to college and re-trained, picking up as much freelance work as I could along the way. Being brought up in the county and having lived most of my life in Tunbridge Wells, there was one station I was anxious to work for (and not just because it’s near my house, honest!). Corny as it may sound, I’m honoured, and at times quite frankly flabbergasted, to find myself on BBC Radio Kent. Since starting work at the station, I’ve been sent to the four corners of the country covering Kent’s sports teams, been stand-in producer for the lovely Charlie Crocker, and in my very first week in news, sent reports on the Tonbridge Securitas raid to BBC stations nationwide. When I’m not working in news (or moonlighting on sport for Matt Davison) you’ll find me playing the odd (and I mean odd) gig with my band, weeping into my beer over the decline of Ipswich Town, and grabbing precious moments to re-acquaint myself with my gorgeous and long-suffering wife. Oh, and I’m mad about badgers. Seriously, don’t get me started...
