Ed Cook: Kent At One

News journalist Ed Cook is a new voice for Kent At One, having worked on commercial radio stations in the county for several years.

Before accepting a job in radio, I was a newspaper journalist for five years, again working in this great county for two different newspaper groups.

I’ve always wanted to be a reporter, ever since seeing my grandfather at work as a newspaper editor in Liverpool.

Highlights of my career so far include interviewing all the political heavyweights during the 2001 election campaign, flying out to Canada to report on the Kent soldiers training for a deployment in Iraq and being ‘highly commended’ in the Kent Young Journalist of the Year category earlier this year.

I have lived in Kent for most of my life, starting at Crayford before moving to Dartford and then Deal and then back to Dartford!

Outside of work, I’m football mad and a big fan of Blackpool Football Club, because all my family are from the seaside town.

I’m also into music, but firmly stuck in the 1980s with a love of cheesy classics from that decade. My CD collection is shockingly bad! I also play badminton and snooker very poorly.
