Paul Harris

Paul Harris

Paul Harris has been in the entertainment business since he was a teenager, nearly six months ago!

Paul Harris started his working life as a shipwright apprentice in Chatham Dockyard but after two years of trying to bang nails in straight and failing miserably he decided that perhaps he wasn’t cut out for building a new Navy and decided to go into show-business instead.

Since then he has earned a living as a comedian, actor and writer appearing in theatres, radio and television.

In theatres he has played in summer shows, pantomimes, variety and music hall, in all the best and most of the worst venues in the country.

In cabaret he says he has played the top clubs and many that can only be described as ‘ashtrays with music.’ “Some”, he says, “were the sort of place where the manager would stab you goodnight.”

He started writing many years ago for the ‘Two Ronnies’ television series and since then has written for various television shows, radio and theatre, as well as one or two rude letters to the council.

Paul first broadcast for Radio Kent in 1994 when invited to contribute to his old mate Paul James’ Saturday show and since then has appeared on or presented various programmes.

In July 2001 the ‘men in grey suits’ who live at the very top of BBC Towers, took their lives and careers in their hands and asked Harris and James to present together and  nine years on they are still on the air with the Sunday Supplement.
