On this week in history...

24th September
1986
Radio Kent's new £1.5 million studios at Sun Pier, Chatham, were opened by Princess Alexandra. She was shown around the station manager Mike Marsh.
29th September
1975
A soldier's local, The Hare and Hounds, Maidstone, was targeted by IRA bombers. It was evacuated in time, thanks to the vigilance of the landlord. No one was injured.
30th September
1978
The North Downs Way, the long distance footpath which runs from Dover to Faversham in Surrey, was officially opened by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
